Marked by its history and its own identity, the Marolles is an emblematic district in the city of Brussels. The district has been able to preserve a remarkable heritage, material as well as immaterial. One of them is the iconic Les Bains de Bruxelles.
The building is more than various sports accommodations and two swimming pools. It plays an important public and social function within the Marolles and, due to its particularly unified architecture and exceptional swimming pool, it also has a great attraction within the Brussels region.
The large swimming pool on the second floor, with its beautiful view of the skyline of Brussels, is one of the hidden places of peace and quietness in the center of Brussels. In contrast, the rest of the building buzzes with activity, with its sports centers, public baths and various spaces which hosts various socio-sportive associations and clubs.
An elaborated master plan was made for the City of Brussels that outlines the future of the unique complex. Various strategies have been developed on the basis of a thorough analysis of the building, the socio-geographical context in which it is located and the different functions it fulfills for its very diverse users.
Our master plan describes the needs of the complex and provides a framework for future necessary and desirable interventions with maximum respect for the unique material and intangible heritage of Les Bains.
