La Cambre Abbey is a former Cistercian abbey in Ixelles, Brussels, located in the Maelbeek valley between Bois de la Cambre and Les Etangs d’Ixelles (Ixelles Ponds). Established in the 13th century, it was largely destroyed during the wars of the 15th and 16th century and reconstructed in the 18th century.
Restoration work by ARTER on the Aile Capitulaire (Chapter Wing or Chapter Hall) was finished in 2015 and included facade masonry, window and door joinery, slate roofs with dormers and chimneys, as well as drainage work on the brick foundation structures. A second phase, scheduled for 2017, will include engineering work such as reinforcement of main beams and floor joists in order to accommodate a new cultural function on the premises
