METROLOGIE
OBJECT OFFICE BUILDING CONVERSION INTO APARTMENT BUILDING.
LOCATION AVENUE DE LA METROLOGIE 10 – 1130 BRUXELLES
PHASE BUILDING PERMIT
SURFACE 8041 m²
CLIENT PRIVATE
This conversion project of a former office building provides the creation of 39 housing units designed for middle-income households, spread over three levels, with a variety of layouts ranging from one to three bedrooms.
While preserving the building’s original structure, the design adapts it for residential use. The basement levels will be reconfigured to accommodate parking facilities, technical areas, storage rooms, bicycle spaces, and shared amenities.
From an energy perspective, each unit will be equipped with a heat pump, a dual-flow ventilation system, and photovoltaic panels. Materials such as FSC-certified wood and locally sourced natural stone are chosen for their durability and low environmental impact. Reinforced insulation and optimized thermal bridge management will further improve energy efficiency.
The surrounding area is designed to reduce soil impermeability from 60% to 35% and to promote biodiversity. All the existing trees will be kept. The project includes the planting of new local species, the creation of wildflower meadows, green roofs, and community vegetable garden. In addition, rain gardens and swales will be incorporated to ensure sustainable rainwater management.
